My theme is African Americans that were born in the 1910s to the late 1920s that have all changed American History. My topic is two civil rights leaders and two athletic African American men in history. I chose these topics because I believe that they are all contributors to changing America, without them I believe America wouldn't be the same as it is today. Martin Luther King Jr was an activist that encouraged to fight for Civil rights and was non-violent and has influenced and inspired many. Rosa Parks stood up for herself and because of this it led to a boycott and gave many hope, that little action of not giving up her seat, stirred many African Americans to fight for Civil rights. Jesse Owens was an African-American that was in the Olympics and represented America, he proved against Hitler's myth that his race wasn't superior. Jackie Robinson was the first African-American to play in Major League Baseball and was also known for being outspoken about disliking injustice. Robinson being the first African-American to play baseball, made it common to have African-Americans playing the sport. They have all made their mark on American History and continue to go down in history. They have helped shaped, form and make America what it is today.
